Hi I just bought an Asus RT N16 and tested a few firmware, namely TomatoUSB, victek and Toastman mod variant along with dd-wrt firmware.

I noticed that these firmware have a general problem with the DHCP lease from my Motorola modem. Internet will be disconnected after an hour followed by small window of surfing time after I release and renew in the router page. I would have to power cycle my router or reboot it to get it to work again.

I googled this issue and applied the command in to the firewall script but it didn't solve the issue.

The following is a section of the log from my router running Tomato Toastman Mod.
Looking at the last line my destination and source ports are different from that of the firewall script 68. I notice that the port changes randomly from the logs.

The list of log goes on with the above issue. So far the Toastman mod is able to renew the lease after 1 hour, however the connection remains unstable, disconnecting every 10 mins there after.

I have tried the Oleg firmware and that remains stable for afew days before slowing down. My previous linksys Wrt54g also had the same issue running 1.28 tomato which I though at first was faulty leading me to buy the asus rt n16 router. Now it seems like possibly some settings I missed out?

    Please Advice, Thank you!

Before I can make any comment, I think we need more information. What kind of connection do you have to your ISP? Why is Tomato getting an IP by DHCP from the modem? Perhaps paste a screenshot of your settings?

Hi thanks for the aid, I am using a cable internet service, and I have been using DHCP for the years I have using their service.

I am not too sure why recently such issue have been plaguing the connection. Here are the screenshots,

I am not sure if the above is sufficient. Please let me know if I miss out any information. Also should I try static IP? From my understanding my ISP will issue IP when the cable modem is switched on and connected, however I am not issued with a static IP.
