I've been doing some "comparison shopping" between the Linksys WRT54GS and the Netgear WGT624. According to CNET's review, the Netgear's throughput is faster: 47.1 vs 36.4 (in G mode only). In mixed (B/G) mode, the Linksys is the winner. Overall, the Linksys appears to be a good unit.

I currently have a Netgear MR-814 (a B mode router) which constantly loses it's connection and am ready to replace it. My concern with the Netgear WGT624 is that I see it also loses it's connection quite a bit (based on their forums), and I would like to avoid going through the nightmare of rebooting my unit all the time.

I would appreciate unbiased opinions re the Linksys unit. I've seen those re the Netgear unit and they aren't pretty.

    Thanks for your help!

go with the linksys wrt54g v2 only. i am not so crazy about the netgears. or go with the wrt54gs v1.1 because of the bigger flash memroy and the speed booster option. the only draw back to the linksys is that it is to common. i think. my wrt54gv2 has benn running fine. even after i briked 10 time in the last year.not becasue of the unit being bad becasue of human error. i have ran in the past alchemy/dd-wrt/satri on this router and i still dont have any problems. currently i have dd-wrt 21c.

definately the linksys wrt54g v2 it is the best they say speed booster is not worth the ink on the box. and that most end up disabeling it after they have problems.
netgears are plagued with rebooting issues (my bro reboots his about 1 time a day or more depending on use)
so buy a linksys its probably a little more expensive but trust me it is worth it... and it has more features
