First off, just to let you know, that i am not very good at setting up modems etc,and i dont even know if i have bought the correct equipment

What i am trying to do

i am trying to set up the internet via my new modem using a ethernet cable properly

    What i have bought

    adsl2mue linksys modem

10/100 lan card model No LNE100TX ver 5.1 (i upgraded the firmware to software version 4.19-uk)

where i am at right now

internet connection is ok,nice and stable
however, when using p2p,using client utorrent, any port that i use comes back as not open

I have tested this on my old speedtouch 330/usb and ports test as ok,
so i know the problem lies with the modem/lan card

Have i bought the correct equipment?

I think i made a mistake in buying the lan card

    I am waiting on a new one....>

D Link DFE-530TX 10/100Mbps PCI Ethernet Adapter Card

maybe i am wasting more monies,i dont know?

So,if any can help me set this up,please post away

I can post any screen shots,i have taken a look at the settings using ip,and not sure what i am looking at
I guess because its a lan,i need to forward the ports or something,as dont the lan have a internal ip?

    Please help,and kind regards

    oh, sorry.
Have you tried disabling all firewalls, including the one embedded in xp?

    yes,tried all those things
even put my speedtouch 330 back in and tested ports in utorrent with that..eveything is fine
so the problem lies somewhere in the modem and or lan card

    thanks for the replies

The Linksys interface doesn't give you access to the NAT and firewall settings. This is a common problem with this box. Before delving into 3rd party firmware with this modem what connection to your ISP do you have? If PPPOE you can put the modem in bridge mode and run a PPPOE client on your PC.

I flashed it with firmware that gives me access to port settings, nat and firewall
i have tried every mode,it still made no difference, either i done something wrong (most likely),or its a piece of junk for p2p
And Tbh,i have gave up on this modem,it only cost me £12

What firmware did you try? I downloaded a linux DVD ISO with uTorrent and RouterTech v2.1 firmware the other day 4 GB down 1GB up in about 10 hours. I enabled upnp on the modem and in uTorrent - didn't do anything other config that I can recall. This was with modem connected directly to PC, I don't have same confidence when I have my Thibor router in between!

PS Was it 12 quid plus postage off ebay?

I bought one off Amazon fore much more than that! I'd certainly recommend you try the firmware, it contains much later ADSL2+ modules and P2P optimizations. Just watch out for the red LED and lack of half-bridge mode. [If you need that the DLINK DSL320T provides half-bridge with even worse LEDs!]

The 2.17 and a 2.18 were Linksys betas, released in Australia (at least). You will see the similarities with RT firmware they closely follow the TI reference example code I suspect.
