Hi, I need to set up port forwarding but the guide says I need a static ip. I tried setting it up on my contorl panel under network connections, but dont I still need to set it up with linksys. When I try to do it wit the linksys, my internet turns off.

I dont know what to do with the local DHCP servers , enable or disable the MTU, or any of that stuff. I also have an Actiontec GT701 modem and am using Surewest. Anyone can help me set up static ip so I can use port forwarding. Also do you know if I only need to set up PF in the router menu or also with my modem. Thanks.
