    Hi everybody,

I bought a smart tv and I would like to connect it to internet but, at the same time, I would like to avoid that it sends meta data to the manufacturer and/or third parties.

As I own a Netgear R7000, I was thinking to reach my target applying a block at router level, with the help of tomato shibby's firmware. However after I looked on internet and did some attempts, I am still at the starting point, as nothing of what I tried worked.

The list of domains I would need to block is quite large, more than 70 entries.

Hope someone of you guys can explain me how to apply such block work at router level (if required I am open to change the router's firmware, no problem at all) and avoid to buy a raspberry or other stuff.

Thanks in advance for the support, much appreciated.

What do you want it connected to the internet for? Perhaps rather than trying to block a large list of places you don't want it talking to, it would be easier to default to blocking everything and allow a small list of places you do want it talking to. Make sense?

Hi, what you are suggesting makes perfectly sense however the smart tv will be used by other people as well, therefore I cannot predict what apps might be used.

If you know the IP/ranges you want to block, add to the Scripts > Firewall. Like this:

    #block vonage while unlocking ATA
    iptables -I FORWARD -d 64.192.11.0/24 ! -s 1.1.1.254 -j DROP
    iptables -I FORWARD -d 69.59.224.0/19 ! -s 1.1.1.254 -j DROP
    iptables -I FORWARD -d 74.116.144.0/21 ! -s 1.1.1.254 -j DROP
    iptables -I FORWARD -d 206.47.199.0/24 ! -s 1.1.1.254 -j DROP
    iptables -I FORWARD -d 216.115.16.0/20 ! -s 1.1.1.254 -j DROP
