I posted this on the dd-wrt forums but no one has replied in almost a day so I want to try here.

    Here's where I am

    I have a WRT54Gv3 with v23b flashed to it.

I'm trying to use it to connect to a hotel router, in whichever client mode, using my xbox running GentooX Linux. I've also tried using this Windows XP computer which is my boss's.

On a clean reset (hold reset 30 seconds) I can connect to the router on no problem. I get in there, go to Status--Wireless--Survey and click join on the hotel router. It gives me a Settings Successful page. I check the Wireless tab and it has my router in client mode, mixed speed, and the hotel's router name in SSID. I can then attempt the connect to the hotel's router using the pre-known IP it is on(from looking at boss's wireless status) and it gives me the login screen for the hotel router, so I know my router is connecting to it. However I still get no internet access.

I have changed nothing else in my settings, so DHCP is enabled for my xbox to get an IP. DHCP is enabled for my router to get an IP from the hotel router. And my IP is listed as

There are multiple routers available on the hotel network, but I always try the same one which has an IP of So, there may already be a hotel router in there with Because of this I tried changing my router's IP to or I figure neither of these are used by the hotel. Whichever I pick, after I hit save settings I cannot log into my router. Ive tried, .147.1, .97.1, 147.2, 97.2...nothing works. However at that point I can still hit the hotel's router at But still no internet. I've gone this all this on both my xbox and the boss's computer.

I dont know what I am doing wrong. Can someone give me a step by step (DD-WRT for Dummies) walkthrough on how to get this to work?
