I have set up my home network with a desktop server and my laptop linked with a WRT54G router via G-type wireless networking. The desktop has 400GB of diskspace and function as the main backup device of my laptop hard drive which is basically used for graphics editing. NetBIOS is enabled in both systems and the whole system is protected by MAC address filtering through the router.
The real pain starts whenever I try to backup my laptop hdd (60GB) or say transfer a 2GB folder. The network utilization never goes beyond 20%. I have tried tweaking the registry settings but that did not improve the situation. So where is the bottle neck?
FYI, the laptop has a Intel 2200PRO network card and the desktop uses a Belkin 54G type desktop wireless network card.
