Network unstable when using WRT54G V5 with BitComet

I just set up a new WRT54G ver5 router as my old D-Link DI624+ was having some power problems...

After setting up the new router the network works just fine, I can connect to the internet via the Lan cable and two other clients can connect wirelessly.

But, when I start using BitComet the network seems to have become unstable, and after using BitComet for some time the network will be gone completely (can't surf net) although the BitComet is still downloading and uploading at a normal speed (around 60kB/25kB). The wireless clients are having similar problem when I'm using BitComet.

The WRT54G is configured as recommended by the official WRT54G User Guide and the latest firmware (1.00.6) has been installed. The network worked just fine with BitComet when I was using the old D-Link Router.

What can I do to solve this problem?

I am using cable with theoretical max. download speed of 2000kbps and upload speed of 256kbps.
