After several phone calls to Linksys complaining about my problems with connection drops with the VPN on the RV042 about every three minutes, and begging for some beta or alpha firmware that addresses the problem, today I received via Email what they tell me is beta version

The filename for the file that they attached me is: RV042_1.3.7.2_050727.rmt and the file size is 4,834,093 bytes.

The biggest concern is that since they didn't pack the file in a ZIP file, I have no way that I know of to check and make sure that the file is not damaged.

Has anyone already flashed to this version?

Did it solve your problems with the "3 minute disconnects" on the VPN?

Does anyone else know what changes have been made or what else has been fixed in this version??

Would anyone else like to take a chance flashing this firmware into their RV042 to test it before I take the plunge?

I would be happy to Email it to someone else to give it a try if they are game to roll the dice and see if it works... if you don't already have the file.

I just could not wait... I went ahead and flashed my RV042 with the new firmware.

Firmware file is good and flashed just fine.

Will update once I get a chance to test the VPN and see if that works or not.

Got this version after about 3 weeks of asking for help on the QuickVPN issue. I am trying it now. We'll see if it will run all night or not. Crossing fingers.

I'm interested in trying this firmware. Would either of you be willing to send a copy via email, or provide a link for downloading it?

Well, the QuickVPN tunnel stayed up all night without a disconnect. It did drop a number of pings going in either direction. It also did not allow a 270meg transfer to complete. No errors in the RV042 log which was nice.

I will try again. I believe there is a 50/50 chance that the wireless connection I was using was the root cause of the file transfer failure. I will rule that out this time.

I will also change the MTU on the router to auto again, I had left it at 576 which is the max Brighthouse allowed without fragmentation.

As to giving out the firmware, officially Linksys says I can't distribute. It wasn't a problem to get from them though. PM me.
