It looks like Linksys has released a new firmware for the RV042 (

    RV042 Firmware v1.3.7.4 Release Note

    1. PPPoE reconnection improvement: Shorten the PADI retry interval to 1,2,4,8,16,16,16,16,16,16,16 seconds. A PADT is also sent prior to PADI on each 16-second retry. Remark: In case the user turns off the power of RV042, the ISP will not know the PPPoE session is disconnected by peer. Some ISPs do not allow peer to reconnect until time-out. The PADI retry interval in previous firmware was 2,4,8,16,32,64,128,256,512,1024 seconds (RFC2516 section 8), which seems to be too long. This change attempts to shorten the reconnection time.

    2. Increase the aging time of QQ from the original 1 minute to 8 minutes. The purpose is to solve the QQ problem in China where incoming messages might be dropped occasionally.

    3. Implement a new PeanutHull specification. In this implementation, the PeanutHull service provider provides a new domain name HPH024.ORAY.NET for Linksys use only. The previous domain name is no longer used in RV042.

    4. Allow administrators to have IPSec Remote Group Network covering the RV042's LAN IP. Remark: In earlier firmware if LAN IP is and IPSec Remote Group Network is, the RV042's Web UI will not be accessible once the "Save Settings" button on the VPN setting page is clicked.

    5. Allow the Protocol Binding to bind ICMP when "Bind All Traffic" is selected. Remark: The Protocol Binding can bind UDP/TCP without problems. But in earlier firmware, it cannot bind the ICMP packets when "Load Balance" is enabled. This firmware solves the problem and binds the ICMP packets to the user-specified WAN interface.

    6. Add "" as the default Domain Name and leave Host Name to be blank after reset to factory default.

    7. Correct the router name typo in the Setup->Network->Help page.

    8. Fix the issue that NETBIOS traffic cannot pass through when RV042 is connected with BEFVP41 via IPSec.

**If firmware upgrade should fail using the Web UI, a TFTP utility can be used to load the v1.3.7.2 firmware into the router. You could then upgrade the firmware to v1.3.7.4 using the Web UI.**

    new firmware's problem

Well, i own 2 RV042 and i have successfully upgrade both's firmware to version. However i found an problem regarding the vpn connetion. i have tried to connect to both RV042 using window's xp built-in client with PPTP protocol, the funny thing is one of my RV042 will accept the connection with encryption and the other won't. It seems like this version of firmware has some flicks.
