There is a new firmware upgrade for the WRT300N wireless N router. Remember to do a firmware upgrade from a wired connection only and do a reset to default factory setting before and after the upgrade.

Linksys- A Division of Cisco Systems, Inc.

    Release Date : May 1, 2006
    Current Firmware : 0.92.4
    Product PartNo : WRT300N

    Ver #. Date Description
    0.92.5 May 1, 2006 Improved wireless performance

    0.92.4 Apr 24, 2006 First release

Check your user guide for Upgrade instructions. In some cases, it may require to
reset the router to factory default.

    new firmware

And those geniuses at Linksys can't even spell the code level correctly on the web page:
    Firmware Date: 5/01/2006
    Firmware Release Version: 0.92.4
    Firmware File Size: 2.98 MB

but when you download it it is 92.5

Well I upgraded to this firmware and I still get crappy throughput when using a WMP54GX4 and WMP54GX card. Only getting 20-22mbps with the 300N router.

When using the WRT54GX4 router and the same wirless cards, I get 80-86mbps with the GX4 and 40-45 with the GX.

    firmware version 0.92.5

I don't think that the firmware fixed anything. I still can't access and when connecting via wireless connection. I can ping the sites but the page is taking a very long time and then it stops like it did nothing. Did you guys experience this problem? By the way everything works well when I'm wired, but what the defeats the purpose of buying this router..

To fix that issue all you have to do is go into the "Applications and Gaming" and then the "QOS" section and ENABLE the WMM. Thats it.

You're not going to get any better than 20~22Mbps with the WMP54GX, since that's not a draft 11n product. You're only going to be running in 802.11g mode with that combo.

I ran native with N and got very poor throughput; slower than G.

Well, lets hope they release another FW soon because I have ripped my 300n out and shoved it back in its box. Just glad i didnt pay the 300 bucks for it and a card.

Enabling WMM works with few wireless adapters like the WPC300N. Most of the adapters that i have is still having the same problem (Linksys and non-Linksys). Thanks. :thumb:
