I just snagged a WRT54G. Should I wait for Alchemy or just throw on Satori 4.0 and call it good. Im not too sure I wanna pay for router firmware. Or is it going to be so great that its worth it?? Which firmware works best on these routers anyway?

Hyperwrt is good at the moment. Alchemy is really for advanced users but is still in beta. it shall be released hopefully soon (hint hint james)

I'd say use Satori for now then upgrade to Alchemy. I haven't tried the other firmware mods but they all appear to have their strengths. Alchemy 6_rc_5a is very stable and rumor is it will be the final that is released to public. You will be able to take your config backup from Satori and restore it after the upgrade to Alchemy. You're talking 2 minutes mac down time to flash and be up and running after restoring all your custom settings.

Side note: Sveasoft support is exceptional and well worth the $20 bucks, but thats just my opinion. Bare minimum, register for access to the forum (free) and have a look at the threads. There is a strong following of technical minds to help with almost every problem you may encounter.

I hope the guys at tinypeap also release their stuff with alchemy in a timely fashion.

Man. This router truly sucks rectum. It sucked with the Linksys firmware. And now it sucks with the Satori firmware. Is there a real solution to this crap or does Linksys just sell overpriced paper weights??? My Netgear blew this pile of crap out of the water. At least signal wise. What a waste of money.

LOL. Solved my problems believe it or not. I ended up moving my router far away from my modem.............. No more disconnecting issues. Wireless connections havent dropped for over a week. Now only issue I have is I cannot browse one my network. I can see my other XP machine but I cannot browse it. Would this be something to do with the firewall in the router??
