Hi guys, I am a newbie and just got a GSv4. I flashed it with DD-WRT v23 mini. I found that the wireless signal is so good (much better than my previous NETGEAR 824). However, when playing BF2, it lags(but my pin is good). How can I adjust the router to play games more stable and fast? P.S. I adjusted the xMit to maximum 251mw, is there any negative side of that? Thank you guys so much!~~~~~ :thumb:

I dont think changing the signal strength would help much if you already had good signal. I believe it makes the router run warmer, so if its not necessary then you might want to change it back.

Ive also heard that network lag in BF2 is common and its usually not the fault of your ping/connection to the server. Google it, and I think you'll find its not the routers fault.

i believe they said keep the xmit to 70 unless you have a heatsink or fan on it.

There was another post on this forum with graphs basically stating if you push the xmit that high, the extra noise generated by the crappy antenna will not be much more beneficial

The down sides are that you will cause the WRT to get very hot, the signal will be shotty at best due to the massive amount of noise, and you will cause anyone around you with wireless interference due to your extreme signal. To improve gaming you could employ QOS and prioritize the port using service level prioritization and or check mark the gaming option...
