I just installed a WRT54GS2 v2 and upgraded to the latest Linksys firmware. My girlfriend's machine is hard-wired into the router and she's working just fine. I currently have wireless disabled in the router's setup until I move my machine into the new place and plug in the wireless adapter.

From a security standpoint, I basically want my desktop and notebook to be the only ones allowed to use the WLAN (i.e. don't want anyone else tapping in). What would be the ideal configuration settings to accomplish this? Would MAC filtering suffice for this?

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

No, MAC address filtering offers no security, since the MAC address is sent in plain text. Use the highest form of encryption that you can use. WPA-PSK AES with WPA2 if possible.

    Thank you for the response.

Will this type of setup prevent other people in my building from using my wireless router for internet access?
