The Maxtor One Tourch II USB was orignally set up by someone on the NSLU2 --which seems to be working fine. However, the Maxtor drive when powered on and plugged in is not read/recognized at all. (It is also not read if directly on a PC - but I assume this is because it's in the Linksys format.) I've tried all kinds of plugging combinations, different cables, etc but nothing seems to work. The NSLU2 works fine with a USB drive. The Maxtor blue button flashes constantly.

Any ideas? Maxtor help seems pretty worthless. I'm fine if I need to wipe the drive clean or if I need to try it w/out the NSLU2. Windows XP doesn't recognize it when tried a hardware install either.

    Thanks, Steph

Opps meant Touch - but perhaps my true feelings are starting to show :)

Is there supposed to be a driver for that drive or is it supposed to be Plug-n-Play?

If it is ever physically recognized by Windows as a USB device, you can read the files formated in the ext3 format (the NSLU2 format) with this driver: http://www.fs-driver.org/index.html

Driver file not accepted by windows

The driver files are on the Maxtor installation CD. But windows wouldn't accept these either. (I saw a similar issue from a guy on another forum.) It says that the .inf file doesn't include the necessary info or something. I can get the actual verbage tomorrow.

    Thanks for the link.

    Sending it back

After it was all said and one it was still under warranty, so I'm sending it back. Thanks anyway.
