i have a little big problems with my computer.

    some infos :
    Router / access point : wrt54g
    Adapter card PCI : wmp54g
    OS : windows xp sp2
    number of computers connected :
    1 wired, 3 wireless
the wired and 2 wireless are working fine.

first i got the "limited or no connectivity" message... meaning that i got no assigned ip from the router. it seams to have a wrong assignement.
    i tried :
with both windows zero configuration & linksys software...
i updated the drivers of the pci card... disabled other network card.

i trie to brute force assigned an ip with all submask/gateway/DNSs indicated in the router configurations...

when a force an IP i got connected to the access point, but no internet!

    have any ideas?

p.s. : i had a wired network with smc before, now having all linksys wireless but havent formated between, and i am new to wireless... and sorry for my poor english.

If I may ask, what's the name of your ssid? Also, is there WEP or encryption enabled on the router?

Usually, limited or no connectivity is associated with two things:
    1) Computer is not getting IP address from router (which you have stated).
    2) Wrong WEP (or network) key was entered. You may have to manually enter the WEp setting for that adapter, should that security mode be enabled.

With a static ip (or a "forced" IP) on the computer, check if you can ping the router. "Replies" mean that you're connected or linked to the router. A request timed out could be caused by a setting on the router, a firewall on the computer or a wrong network key.

    Hope it helps.

I have the linksys wmp54g also with windows xp sp2 and i have that problem whenever i start my computer, it says im connected and the internet cannot be found, well to connect to the internet in the linksys config utility just click the network and connect to it again. then it just refreshes it and then should be connected.
