OpenDNS doesn't support myip, so it appears there's no way to update them with what dynamic IP address a network is using without using their OpenDNS Updater. I'm interested in this for the purpose of content filtering, not DDNS. Has anyone found a way to do this strictly from within Tomato?

As a secondary question, now that I've learned this I'm confused as to what the point of having OpenDNS as a Tomato option. They're not a DDNS provider, and DNS-O-Matic is their DDNS updating service.

I don't use OpenDNS, but it is listed as an option on the Basic > DDNS > Service menu. That is the page that you would use to get Tomato to automatically update OpenDNS for you.

The other reason for using them is as an alternative DNS provider. Your service provider will provide you (as part of DHCP) with a set of DNS servers. You can configure Tomato to ignore the DNS servers provided by your ISP, and to use OpenDNS instead. Among the claimed benefits are that it is faster, and that it allows you to filter out spam and porn sites, if you so choose.

I understand that. But according to their own knowledgebase they don't support myip which is what I thought Tomato uses to update DDNS providers. I had OpenDNS in there for a month, only to find that when my dynamic IP address changed, OpenDNS didn't get the notification.

I do this, and I've been very happy with OpenDNS.

To summarize, putting OpenDNS in Basic -> DDNS -> Service doesn't seem to do anything.

It looks like it was an authentication failure. Looks like it was working now. I forgot that Tomato gives update status. :frown:
