OpenWRT Ipkg packages and DD-WRT

    Hello guys,

    got a question here (hopefully i make it chappy)

    okay , here it goes

    Can I use openwrt ipkgs on my DD-WRT....Is it possible , i want to run irssi on it possible

    i am pretty sure you can.

    i think that in v23 of dd-wrt you will have a huigher rate of ipkg's being more compatable with dd-wrt since v23 is going to be openwrt based.

    I don't know, to which extend DD-WRT does support the OpenWRT package format.

    But you can always rename a ipk package to tgz, extract the contents with tar, have a look at the files, the directory structure and the installation scripts of the package and install it manually. This way I'm running many OpenWRT packages on Alchemy (which doesn't officially support ipkg packages at all). You can do the same thing on DD-WRT.

    Of course, if a package needs certain libraries, you'll also have to install the packages with these libraries in the same way.

    can you send me the converted irssi package (and its libs) if possible
