People w/ westell modems hooked up to linksys routers.

    I you use a westell or other type of modem as your gateway and a linksys router that connects your PC's here's what you should do.

    Since most linksys routers block certain ISP communications (management protocols), you should set up DMZ on the modem to connect to the linksys router-THIS WILL ENABLE A DIRECT CONNECTION TO THE MODEM FOR OPTIMAL PERFORMANCE.

    DMZ doesn't open ports to the devices connected to the router rather opens a direct and accurate path for the router to connect to the internet and since the router has a firewall, security isn't much of a deal.
