I had the latest firmware (v4.20.7) on my WRT54G v1 but had a lot of disconnects. A couple of days ago I flashed it w/ Thibor14 and it seemed to be working great for about 3 hours when all of the sudden I could not connect anymore to the internet.

I put the stock firmware back and still doesn't work. The red Diag light is off and from the outside it looks fine, but it just doesn't connect to the internet. I have a cable modem and I know I have signal because I connect when I go wired from the cable modem to the PC.

I tried stock and Thibor14 back and forth a few times and nothing. The only thing I have not done (because I didn't know until I read it today in this forum) is the erasing of nvram and the hard resets in between all the steps.

What could be wrong? What can I do next? Any help is appreciated.

    Thank you in advanced, JD.

well you could erase your nvram for a start. it's stated over and over again that it's important. there are many many people using my firmware without issue so it's highly unlikely that "it fried your router"

I don't think I can't clear my nvram on the stock firmware, can I?

    Thank you in advanced, JD.

My guess is that you have the port switch error that I have seen so many times with v1x routers. Try flashing to DD-WRT and see if that works. For some reason the 1x routers keep switching their lan and wan ports (IE in order to work properly you would have to connect your modem to a lan port and your comp to the wan port).

No, it is not a port switch problem. Basically, after a lot of testing, Thibor14 doesn't work on my WRT54G v1.

I went back to stok and then loaded DD-WRT and it works fine after a few resets.

I was hoping for more help from the guys in this forum but with only 2 replies I am out of luck with Thibor14.

Anyways, thanks a lot to those who replied.

    Best regards, JD.
