Tomato is my favourite firmware as it is so stable. The only thing I found is that it does not support many routers. I have a Tp-link TL-WR2543ND that can run OpenWRT, gargoyle and DD-WRT but not Tomato.

I am thinking of taking the driver and compile a version of Tomato (by Shibby) that support it. Will it be as simple as that? Any good pointer where to start?

Tomato is designed from the ground up for Broadcom based routers. It has never been meant to be portable. My personal belief is the stability comes in part because it has never tried to be all things for all routers.

The unit you mention is Atheros based. Nothing is impossible, but it would be a major undertaking to port Tomato. It would not be as simple as swapping drivers out and re-compiling.
