Port Forwarding results in computer restarting on its own

    I have the following setup

Win XP Pro SP2 (all updates installed)
    WRT54GL w/ Thibor Hyperwrt 15c in front of a RTP300.

When I configure port forwarding utorrent shows it as configured correctly and torrent sites that I'm a member of show that I'm connectable, but the computer restarts on it's own so I had to turn off port forwarding.

    What am I doing wrong?

    Thanks in advance.

If the computer restarts by itself i would say its an OS issue.

    I would second that opinion.
Doing port forwarding should not cause reboot.
However, doing port forwarding allows your torrent application to work better, allowing more connections and leading to higher requirements.

I would check that your PC is fine first before checking the linksys on that case.
Try virus and spyware checks and eventually to stress your components a bit (benchmarking maybe?). This should show you the flaw in your PC.

I should add since it came up ... I have no virus or spyware problems.

are you sure you didn't check the "Reboot PC from time-to-time for no particular reason"? when you enabled port forwarding?
if you didn't, there is no possibility that anything the router does can cause your pc to reboot. it's a pc or operating system (or both) issue but it certainly doesn't involve the router i'm afraid.

I got it fixed, in the router control panel under the security tab I had firewall protection enabled, when it was suppose to be disabled. Well that's the only thing I did different this time so I'm guessing that was it.
