Hi. I have a WAG54GS with my PC connected using a patch cable. MY 13 year old step-son has a PC in his bedroom which connects wirelessly and shares its connection with his Xbox 360.

He plays on Xbox live predominantly and uses bearshare P2P at the same time, thereby gobbling up a big chunk of my 3.1 mbit connection leaving me sitting around waiting for even simple pages to download when browsing.

How can I prioritise my PC's connection over his so that the bandwidth is shared dynamically allowing me to browse normally but allowing him more bandwidth when it is available?

    any help/advice greatly appreciated.

I don't know about the WAG54GS, i'm not sure if it's compatable with alternative firmware that supports QOS, lately i've noticed linksys is adding basic QOS in their firmware you could try upgrading to the latest Linksys firmware and see if they added QOS. If they did you can mark your port as high priority and his as low and that should fix it, if it's not there and you can't get custom firmware for that router you're SOL. If your willing to spend a few bucks on a WRT54GL you can do it with that and DD-WRT or tomato or CoovaSpot.
