Problem connecting to wifi on E4200v1 until SSID is changed.

I have had this problem a few times before and it seems to happen about every 5 or 6 months.

All of a sudden none of my wireless devices will connect to the router. In order to fix it, I have to go in and change the SSID to something else and then I can connect fine. No other settings are changed in the router. Usually after a few days, I can change the SSID back to what it was originally and it works again.

I'm baffled as to why it's doing this and would like to figure it out. Am I missing some setting somewhere, or is there a way to fix the problem without changing the SSID?

I am using the latest "tomato-E4200USB-NVRAM60K-1.28.0500.5MIPSR2-Toastman-RT-N-VPN-NOCAT" firmware right now, but this has happened on previous versions too.

    Try this:

After changing the SSID in your router to your new desired one, delete the wifi SSID currently on your system(s) associated to your connection, and then recreate a new one by connecting to your new SSID.

I do that and it always works with a new SSID. The old SSID doesn't work when I do that. It's like the old SSID is blocked or something, even though it can be seen and has a strong signal.

What I mean is delete all the remnants of your SSID's (specific to that router) in your PC's and start with the new one.

Do you see any errors? Did you change any setting in that old SSID? Have you updated your wireless drivers? Do you erase NVRAM before and after updating to the latest firmware?
