Problem that bothers me for months! QoS

I'm sharing my internet with my housemate. I always get very slow connection because he uses Bit torrent 24/7! He's only paying 30% of the bill but he almost sucked up all the speed. I'm going to find a solution that can limit his bandwidth.

I heard there's a feature called QoS with WRT54G can do the tricks. So I bought one last week and ended up knowing that it is a V5. :( The standard linksys QoS couldn't work at all! After googling I realize that DD-WRT firmware is the only solution.

I sold this piece of crap to my friend with half the price and bought another WRT54GS V4. After upgraded to DD-WRT, I immediately play with the QoS.

WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE? All I want to do is to limit his bandwidth to says 256kbps. I only can set the priority and his BT still sucked up my speed.

    So here's my question:

I have a 1024/512 broadband and I want to limit my housemate's bandwidth to 256/128. I have his MAC address. Can the DD-WRT QoS do the trick?

If it's not possible, can I block him from using BT software? (Only I can use Bit Torrent).

    A) What type of QoS did you use? Ethernet Port will only work with very old routers.

    B) The tc command will allow you to set hard limits.
The WIKI listing points to some articles - some have examples.
Searching the dd-wrt forums also have some examples. (I haven't tried it to give you a tested example)
