    OK specs... to get them out of the way:
    im using a lynksys etherfast cable/dsl router w/ 4 port switch model: BEFSR41 w/ 1.04.09 firmware.
    and i have 1 desktop and a couple laptops connected to it. (all with winXP SP2)

    i connect from: wall outlet->modem->router->computer.

    recently after playing an online game(and sometimes other programs), and i get off of it i cant reconnect to the internet or back onto the game server.

    the strange thing is, is that my bittorent client, azureus, is still connected and seeding/downloading.

    The only way i can get the internet back up is by restarting my computer.
    also i have a program called, iCheckConnection.exe, that if i run it, it will sometimes reconnect me to the internet.

    P.S. i can ping both my router and my modem, but nothing outside. and both laptops can still connect to the internet.

    ive been reading and it seems like it could be packet loss or something.. are there any tools that would allow me to check this?

    It may be a problem with no of connections on the router, but as it is the PC you have to restart I reckon you have the problem with XP SP2 and the no of open sockets in TCPIP.SYS, have a search for more info on this (on BitTorrent and game sites etc), a popular patch to change the Windows behaviour is provided by the following site

    NB you can check your Event Log to see if this is the problem before fighting Windows to replace one of its core files! [I had to do it once and it worked!]

    i looked on the event viewer in windows, and found the 4226 error several times. and i ran the program on that link and set the connections to 50.. hopefully this works...

    thnx so much:biggrin:
