I ve just bought WRT54G and have some problems :)
First of all I flashed it I used DD-WRT but then i upgraded it to alchemy pre 7a vesion. I have tried to use ad-hoc mode. All I want is to connect mu computer and WRT.
Connection seems to be estabilished (on 11MB) but WRT didn't have any IP !!!! Connection is estabilished but no packets are sent by WRT ?? Why ??? In Infrastructure mode it works great. Could You help me ??
The second question is if it's possible to WRT to be connected in ad-hoc mode and provide internet connection to client ?? (I suppose not :(
If you don't mind tell me what is afterburner I know that is the advantage of GS models and give speedbost but how it works ???

Adhoc mode tries to pick which mode it should be in. I don't recall how successful it really is. Your router in "Client" mode should be able to get an IP from another device. Sounds like you want "AP" mode and with the desired result of a connected wireless computer. Make sure you set an IP on the "setup" page including DHCP options for scope and such. Maybe I missed your point.
Not totally sure as the sveasoft firmware had problems with this. The router get confused as to which mode it should be in.
Afterburner only works if you have a supported Linksys wirless card as well. From what I've read it really isn't that big of a deall beasides, it can't be enable if you plan on using WDS.
