does anybody have a link to download tftp???

y have my roter with hyperwrt firmware but it does not have the option of boot on wait, would i have a problem if i flash my router??? or what is the most secure way to flash it ??'

    thank you!!!

Oh, but if the WRT54 is the router establishing PPPoE then the RTP Proxy field shows the WAN IP.
But it doesn´t show it if the WRT54 is the second router (befind another one) and used as an access point.

Also the WAN address field is empty if the WRT54 is the first router behind the modem.
If it is the second one behind another router the WAN address field shows: ppp0 interface not up

So it´s different depending on if the router is the one establishing the PPPoE connection or nit. Don´t know if this is correct.

I meant when will it be accessible in the web GUI? I can only see the old services in there. I really wish to use the QoS without using the command line. :sadbye:

In addition, is DynDNS working? Mine always shows "No Internet connection".

    Mirror is on its way.
and yes if you use firefox clear cache than download again and you will get 15-8 build.

    Yup, nice version! :cheer:

But CPU load more than doubled from 03-08 to 15-08 on my WRT54GS: from about 5% to about 15%. Nothing tremendous, but still... Just wanted to notice that.

Besides that, it finally feels like QOS is running just fine!

Just upgraded my main gateway router to V23a

    Looks GREAT!! I am runnning 3 boxes - a V2 (client bridge), a V2.2 (WDS distribution node) and a V3 (gateway router)

    I am impressed!!

I am looking forward to spending some time playing with Nocatsplash - Thanks Brainslayer for putting that in there

What dos the http redirect option do??
  13. BrainSlayer

    BrainSlayer Network Guru Member

http redirect redirects all port 80 requests to a specified server. so you can redirect all users to your own proxy. this is needed in a hotspot environment. smtp redirect works like the same
  14. dellsweig

    dellsweig Network Guru Member

Does this work the same as just setting up a port forward on port 80 or is there more to it??

I tried last night on a v4 WRT54g. It seemed to successfully load the image via either the web browser or tftp. But, after loading, you could never ping the unit or access the web browser. After doing a full reset, the "arp -a" command showed the unit's mac address and the IP address, but I could never access it. I noticed in the release notes that is says "...the first boot of dd-wrt can take some minutes since it will initialize the jffs2 flash device." Unless this means 20 minutes or so and I did not wait long enough, it does not work.

I had to short pin 16 to get the Linksys firmware back on.

    pppoe bugs

    Theres a PPPoE bug
Select Connect on Demand and set a maximum timeout.
When the timeout is reached the router will never reconnect. (thought this was fixed in v22 by ice-man)

My router is a WRT54GS v1.0 and im using RP PPPoE

devil-strike > The reboot loop bug was fixed in v22.
After the firmware upgrade my router rebooted about 5 times. but everything is ok. (btw I selected the option Reset to FW defaults)

just a word to say that I use the V23 (03/08) since 1 week as client on a wrt54GS 1.1 (the AP WRT54GS 1.1 use hyperwrt) without any problem or connexion lost. (Wep key)

I use it to transmit video from a Dreambox Sat receiver, so there is a lot of trafic on it.

    Great firmware !

    Re: pppoe bugs

i have waiting 1 hour and the router reboot not whene the firmware is done, if i pull the power cord than back in the router is up in 10sec.
so i think the reboot bug is sliped in in this version.

Yup, had it working on the bench fine. Put it into production, and after the first (few) times working fine, new people would get a 404 screen. Running with out it, till I can get some time off hours to look at it (or maybe someone else will find something first :p)

Can anyone else please confirm that when using v23 15.8 (non voip) on wrt54gs 1.1 hardware that client bridge mode with wpa results in no data throughput? it associates but that is all. no data coming thru.

i can confirm also the boot loop on this hardware, have had it in all versions of v23 so far but for a while there when using this latest release i thought it had bricked it!

I've only been able to get to the splash page. It will not redirect to the Internet. Looking at the page source it does correctly pickup the redirect variable but cannot go outside, the page just reloads when you click on the login button. Any thoughts? I tried the install to/jffs/nocat and on an external server. But I really am trying to not need an external server (didn't work anyway). I've spent the better part of three evenings trying to get this to work. Maybe I need to submit a bug report over the weekend. I can be really thick headed at times but I usually figure it out.

jagboy, Yes when I tried it on the WRT. I just pscp.exe the files (basically the splash.html, staus.html, test.html and an images dir into the /jffs/nocat directory. I checked the nvram variables with "nvram show | grep NC_" . The status page does not convert any the variables either you just get the text with no data. I checked to make sure the permissions were OK but am not sure if you need write access to the firewall scripts in /usr/libexec/nocat. The scripts are not on the writable jffs partition.

    THANKS for including nocatsplash

    Now question time

I need to allow certain IP's inside my network to 'pass through' the portal without the splash. I tried entering them in the allow hosts field, separated by semi colons, commas and/or spaces. I cannot get more than one allowed hosts.

Do I need to edit these directly into the nocat.conf file or am I doing something wrong.

I've a problem with PPPoE on WRT54G v2.2. The connection isn't stable with v23 alpha. I've done a Factory Defaults reset but no change. I downgrade to v22r2 and the problem disapear. But no WDS with v22

However BrainSlayer, congratulation, the new interface in v23 is very cool and WDS works great

EDIT : Very strange, the router seems to lose the PPPoE password, and after a deconnection, no reconnection possible...

the only way i could think of is going to /etc/libexec/nocat/ in that directory there are a whole bunch of different iptables. if you look into initalize.fw in /etc/libexec/nocat/ that is were you can add iptable rules and stuff

yeah first flash of dd-wrt v23 just killed the dhcp. could not get a ip address from the wireless side or the wired side. i think that v23 has a lot of dhcp changes. becuase i dont think alot of people encountered this problem, in previous releases.

  65. BrainSlayer

the link is the same like before

about encryption settings. if you want to use wpa/wpa2 you have to reset your configuration if you just upgraded from v22, since many nvram var's are changed. possibly i will integrate a default reset on first flash in future to prevent problems.

i'm afraid of calling this beta or prefinal currently. so far i'm still finding bug, i wont release it as beta. possibly in 3 weeks we will have a final version and a beta will follow later this week. thats my current plan.

Installed the 22-8 over the previous V.23. Got faced with 2 new problems:

    1) If I select WPA-PRESHARED KEY I only get an unsecured connection (as reported by Windows connection manager). Did several resets, allways same result.

    2) If I change settings, the router disconnects the pppoe connection but doesn't reconnect.

The last one could be related to the problem, that my router allways needs an hard reset after unplugging power supply (it goes to an endlos loop.) But's not shure at the time, if that is caused by V23 or by the fwbuilder script. Will test that by tonight.

I havn't problem with wpa-psk but I have the same problem with PPPoE. It seems that the router lose the password. Try to change all settings you need and at the end, re-enter the PPPoE password. I use this method and all is ok. However v22 doesn't have this bug.

I'm using WDS with WPA-PSK and AES encryption successfully but I was unable to connect with WPA2-PSK.
  86. merlin88

    merlin88 Network Guru Member

Hm wired, I can also connect if I choose WPA-PSK with AES, but Windows reported the connection as open and not as WPA secured. Even if I inserted the password in Windows before, it connects allways as unsecured.

@vinz: Could you please just double check, that your client also say, it connects wits wpa.
