    Hi Guys,

I bought a version 1.1 wrt54gs primarily so I could use the qos features from the alchemy sveasoft firmware with the idea being that my desktop pc will have priority over my laptop.

I have tried implementing this in many ways including by port, mac address and service, all with no success.

My adsl connection is 2mb down and 256 uplink, so I have set the uplink to 200 and the downlink as 2000, as it requires the setting in kbps.

No matter what i do when I am downloading a large file from the internet on my laptop the pings from my desktop rocket into the 100's.

My understanding from reading is that icmp traffic runs in the premium category by default so in theory downloading a file on a lesser qos setting shouldnt effect pings by a noticable amount.

    Any help greatly appreciated

Well you could try lowering the downlink value to 1900 for a test.
However it must be said that QOS can only efficiently shape the upstream and not what is being sent to you by the remote end. So a proper test would be to compare pings while UP-loading at full speed, not downloading.

Yea, its the upstream i am particularly concerned about as i rarely max out my downstream.I have tried reducing it but with no luck, any ideas?
