My Nas200 is doing what many here are also experiencing The drives become unavailable after a period of time and the unit requires a reboot to make them active again.

My questions is will the Jac4 firmware upgrade resolve this problem?

    Thanks for your help.

The problem (as far as I can tell) is that Samba eats up all the memory and when the NAS starts swapping to disk, it becomes so slow that it's pretty much unusable.

Jac4 is pretty much the same software as what's in the Linksys stock firmware so just changing the firmware is not going to fix the problem.

However, that being said, it's possible to adjust the Samba configuration once you have my firmware. See questions W3 and W4 on the NAS200 FAQ.

It may be apropos to also note that the OP didn't state what firmware his NAS200 is currently on. If his firmware is outdated, he may want to try the latest firmware from Linksys or from Jac before assuming the worst.
