i want to use 3 wrt54gs's in a wds and i found two possible configs for that.
to each router's wds-tab i give the mac-adresses of the two other routers, so that thereoretically each router can directly communicate to each other.
the router makes a wds-connection to the second (and vice versa) and the second makes a wds-connection to the third (and vice versa), so that a packet from behind the first router adressed to behind the third router must be repeated by the second.

Both configs work fine. For throughput reasons i prefer the first config though and so a question concerning the 1st config came up to me:
--> when a host behind the first router sends a packet to a host behind the third router, does then the first router know automatically that it can send the packet directly to the third router or will it possibly send the packet to the second which repeats it to the third?
Or will i have to configure static routes in each router.

The STP (spanning tree protocol) thats included will detemine the best route to use in a loop WDS LAN network. This will allow a failsafe route in case one of the WDS links fail.
