I have 4 WRT54g 2.2 units running. Main unit and the others are repeaters setup.

I have a XP pro machine I setup with remote desktop and went and set port 3389 to be open for all the ips on the range of machines in our system.

All was working great and after a few weeks it just stopped working. The port is listening fine. I can RD the machine from other computer in the office but cannot get in trough the internet. Very strange as it was working fine and now nothing. I rebooted everything and double checked the system. I opened the ports on the main router connected to the modem as well as the one used as the repeater.

    Thanks for any help.

I'm having the same problem, even though I never had it working through the internet before, but I can RD through my lan from another PC. I have spent 2 days on this, tried using UltraVNC, even MSN Messenger's Remote Assistance, all to no avail. I was able to UltraVNC another PC from my server, but couldnt go the other way. I am starting to think that my ISP has restricted port 3389. That may be the case in your issue. Maybe your ISP has just started restrictions on that port as it has been known to be a hacking port from what I read last night. I will be contacting my ISP today to find out if this is the case.

    Hey all,
I use RDC everyday from work to my house. I setup the client (home) with static IP, setup my WRT54GS to open port 3389 only to the IP of the computer I want it to connect to.

I did try opening that port to all computers on the LAN, but RDC failed. When I directed the port 3389 to just one system it will work perfectly from work.

That was my problem. Realized I changed it and that was when I lost RD. Reset to only one ip address on the router and solved the problem. Thanks !!!
