I have a WRT54G V1.1 (4.20.7). Using the Ping Exploit described elswhere in this forum, I am able to start syslogging to a remote machine. However, every now & then, the router kills the syslog process (I guess when it recycles itself...). Is there a way to set up a script permanently on the router that starts remote syslogging at bootup ? and maybe something that makes sure it stays running (like in cron or so) ??

I'm sure you could save something in rc_startup like
    nvram set rc_startup="Your commands"
the issue a nvram commit. You should consider using a 3rd party firmware as it gives you these capabilities more easily. I would recommend flashing your firmware to hyperwrt-thibor as its based on Linksys source but with more bells and whistles and fixes.

    I will have a look at Hyperwrt-thibor..

I thought that there might be something easy to do without replacing the "original" firmware....

Is there any documentation available how to use the nvram rc_startup commands ?

At there is. the original firmware afaik does not allow you to do anything like this. Thibor15C is based on the lastest firmware and looks very similar. it just has more options.

    Installet hyperwrt - works fine...

but - will cost me some weekends to examine all the features...

    Thanks !!!!
