Remote WOL not working for me

I am not sure if this is a router firmware issue, but I tried to wake up some PC's using magic packet wake up software, as well as apps on my smart phone for WOL, and it just doesn't work.

I forwarded port 9 as this is the default port for WOL for the PC's I am trying with.

What's funny, is that I CAN wake up the PC's by logging in to the Router GUI remotely, and using the internal WOL in the Tools menu - works perfectly every time.

I was wondering if I need to open something in the firewall (manual iptable - command) or something of the sort.

Since the router itself can wake up the PC, I am stumped as to why the other software can't.

    Any advice?

I am able to confirm the same is happening for my friend whom I turned onto Tomato on his ASUS rt-16n. Different PC, different ISP, different everything except router + firmware.

One funny thing also is that if my PC is on, and I turn it off, within the first few seconds of it being completely shut down, I can remotely wake it with my phone app, however, ait more than 30seconds and it can no longer be done. It can always be done however using the Router itself under its WOL feature.

Somehow, the magic packet is being blocked, can anyone else try this to see if it happens to them???

Mine works perfectly, I now have Shibby 079V but it worked.
You don't need to open/forward any port since the router allows to sends the signal directly (if you'd like to wake the machine up from the remote interface of Tomato).
I also use iNet Pro for iPhone to do WOL.

Both Power Saver Options settings in the screenshots attached are configured in the same way.

Doesn't work for my build, one of the latest Toastman I have no idea why, I am just giving up and will use the Tomato WOL feature in the router itself

You could play around with this for a more robust way to use WOL, without having to use the router interface.

I've actually also setup and automated script on my android phone using ConnectBot to wake up my computer anywhere, at the click of a single button (actually two, until they add a requested feature). It just ssh's into the router, runs the wol script, and disconects (after which you're prompted with the annoying 2nd click).
