I'm planning on using shielded ethernet cables to connect my wrt54gs v3 to my cable modem, motorola sb 5120, and my ethernet card. Through my research, I have found that one end of the cable must be grounded to insure proper shielding. I was wondering if the RJ45 ports on the linksys router were grounded.

test it with an ohm meter from the pins to the black wire (-) while the unit is powered down.

if there is a reading change on the meter then they are grounded

just out of curiosity, why are you wanting to use shielded cables? Are you in some kind of high RF environment or something?

My router is placed next to very large and old speakers.

It's pretty unlinkely that you will notice any issues from that even with normal cable...... even if it's not properly grounded you should see alot less interference on the cable from the metal shielding....
