I'm starting to get confused as to what router is really the best in terms of customisability and power. I have both a WRT54GS V5 and a WRT54G V5. Obviously, my V5 is starting to look more and more useless with what I can do with it, so I was wondering - which router would you recommend out of all of those ones out there? I usually go with Linksys because I've had problems with other brands of routers before whereas Linksys routers just seem to work (or at least I can find out how to fix problems).

    Thanks for the replies.

WRT54GL or a WRTSL54GS that would be my 2 main ones.

    The WRT54GL is just a WRT54G V4, isn't it?

That second router looks DAMNED good! 8mb of flash space plus the ability to mount drives. Does it support USB hubs? Do current 3rd party firmwares support reading off the drive?

Thibors firmware has a support for the SL.

the GL is indeed a v4 afaik.

We can't source them in Australia, from the looks of things. I'd have to get one from the US and I'm not really THAT fussed on getting one just yet.

I think I'll just swap out my G V5 for a GL (my mate can sell off my almost brand new router if I can get VxWorks back on to it). I have OpenWRT micro on it atm. On a side note, is it hard to rever to VxWorks? ;)

By the way, probably shouldn't link to Thibor's site if it's down ;).

    Thanks for your replies.

it was up earlier, and thibor said he was hopefully it was fixed.

tbh i think he may need to move hosts.

I'm a little scared about doing this. Is it complicated?
