Help! I have a client who has this RV042, I set them up to use the PPTP vpn on it and it worked great for a couple weeks. As of this morning the PPTP server is not responding. I can connect to the RV042 fine through the https management page and everything seems to be the way I left it, but no dice on the PPTP connection.

The client rents space from another company where they have VLAN'd their tenants. I have asked the network admin of the landlord to forward port 1723 to the wan port of the RV042 which has a private IP (10.1.x.x). The landlord admin assures me that nothing has changed on their end and that port 1723 is still forwarded to the right IP as it was before. To be clear, the vpn is accessed through a public IP that is forwarded to the private IP of the RV042.

When trying to connect I get error 800 from the XP client.

Any help is greatly appreciated, and like I said, it worked great for a couple weeks... :frown:

I got it to work. Everybody can stop working on this,...jk. Seriously, nothing, and I mean nothing had changed on the network and all of a sudden pptp stopped working, as if the server was unreachable. I rev'd the firmware to Beta Firmware and magically it started working again. The router is NATed and so are the clients.

Had you tried rebooting the device prior to changing the firmware? I know the 042 pptp server is solid, though i do not know how it handles alot of usage i.e. many connections a day regularly over several weeks usage.
