Let me explain my situation. I recently changed the settings on my modem so it is "half-bridged". In other words, it is not doing any NAT and is giving the global ip to my WRT54G (Thibor 15c). The problem is my isp changes my global IP approximately every 12 hours. My modem is this mode is not "smart enough" to tell my outer that my ip has changed and I loose internet connection. If I go into my router and release/renew my IP my router picks up the internet again with no problems.

I was thinking that one wat to solve this problem is to wite a script that would check if the internet is live (ping my modem would work as well) and if internet is not live then initiate a release/renew. The problem is i know nothing about scripts for the wrt54g. I would appreciate if someone can help me out.
