How can I send the packets from my PS2 to a port on my router that my computer is hooked up to so I can capture and monitor packets? I have a WRT54G v.5 router. Or is there any way I can bridge the two ethernet ports on my computer and plug in the internet to one and the PS2 on the other? I was able to do this but while i was playing a game online i got kicked off and it didnt work anymore but I dont know why. please help me I've been working on this all day and cant get it to work well. Also I have a Hub but I do not know how to hook up more than one thing up to it rendering it pointless if somebody can help me with that too it would be great because it isnt switched so i could view packets from the other things on the hub.

    Thanks in advance.

Have you tried capturing the traffic using ethereal from your computer? What is the intended goal, to capture all traffic from your PS2 during a game? It would help us if you tells us what firmware you are using.

i have Ethereal but not too sure on how to use it. Will that work on my router even though packets dont get sent from one ethernet port to another becaused its switched right? And I have the nomal linksys firmware (the newest one). And yes i wanna capture packets while playing a game online on playstation.

Obviously ethereal isn't for the faint of heart but it should caputer enough of the broadcast traffic to give you an idea of what it doing. As for capturing everything, not sure if you can. What you are looking for is in-line sniffing or port mirroring both of which I can't think of how you could accomplish to capture absolutley everthing from the PS2. Read through the etheral site as it is full of how to info and start with that.

You could try installing tcpdump on the router itself, which would certainly have access to all it's ports regardless of the switched environment. Since the dump logs would obviously be huge, you'd probably want to have it dump logs to a samba share. You could then load those packet caps into ethereal/snort/whatever and analyze them at your liesure.

You're other option is to poison PS2s arp cache. Ettercap will do this and do packet monitoring/loggings at the same time. (Indeed with the advent of Ettercap NG, the included monitoring capabilities are pretty much on par with ethereal for most work.) There is also an app called arppoison or something similar at packetstorm. I believe it is/was part of dug songs DSniff package, but I could be wrong.

Edit: It is indeed included in DSniff. You can get the windows port at .
