Does anyone have experiance with the SGE2000 switch? I'm wondering if I need to have the fan running? It is a little loud and I could move it, or turn the fans off. Thanks in adavance for the answers.

Overall for most users that owned this switch the answer would be NO. But there are plenty of caveats. The cooling system of any device is such that it is designed to cool components at 100% utilization under certain temperature constraints. For most of us we dont push our devices hard enough to worry about utilization but not many of us have the luxury or having our devices in a temperature controlled environment. I live in a relatively mild part of the country, but summertime it does get hot (sometime 105 or so inside the house). On those days i worry alot about my equipment as i have had pc shuts themselves down because of thermal events. On those said days i am thankful for a good fan in some of my equipment. However most of the time, 8 or so months out of the year its nice and cool to downright cold and during those times for me, a fan is optional (if i had the ability to turn it off i would).
