Does DD-WRT have SNORT built in? Or any other firmware for that matter?

No but theoretically the OpenWRT packages should be compatible. (I've never tried them.)

If you decide to give it a shot let us know how it goes!

    Good luck!

    Openwrt packages often work.
It is not realy hard to install such a package, read the first few steps of the miau irc bouncer guide and you should have a good hint about what to do.

how well does anyone expect snort to run on one of these devices though? don't you think it would be too resource hungry for these little devices to handle?

    thanks for the opinion,

I can't say from personal experience but based on how often the snort packages are updated I'd wager that it works well enough to make it worthwhile.

If you're really curious you could always search/ask over in the OpenWRT forums. I'm sure someone there has a better idea of what the WRT's snort capabilities are. Or test it yourself and let us know! ;)
