In my town we have build WiFi network based on LinkSys wrt54g and wap54g devices. There are 3 central wireless points of access (devices are WRT54G) each other interconnected with backbone made with WAP54G in bridge mode.
The problem we have is that backbone which is made by WAP54G bridged APs doesnt act like backbone, but the performance of the backbone is very similar as WDS type of conenction (daisy chained devices), e.g. the speed drops in every hop. Does anyone have expirience in this type of network configuration, so may help us to solve this issue ?

Are you using different SSIDs and channels for your backbone? Maybe you hare getting interference between the links in the backbone.

Yes, I am using for every link of backbone diferent SSID and diferent channel. On every backbone site I use wrt-54's built-in switch for LAN connection of backbone AP's (two of them for each site).
