I have the WRT54GS router and WMP54GS adapter card and i was wondering how speedbooster works? Is it enable all the time or what? I have never seen any boosted speed´s on my network.
Usally when i transfer i file between my computers i have an average speed about 1mb/s and i think that sucks.

SpeedBooster is Linksys' name for the Afterburner method to boost 802.11g speeds. It's based on the idea of network packet overhead efficiency management (makes the overhead smaller and more data is carried in a single packet) or as Buffalo puts it, 125Mbps High Speed mode FrameBursting.

At 1Mbps it's bad even for a 802.11b/11Mbps wireless network. Did you measure this with the router and adapter in the same room? How was the signal and reception? What attempts have you made to increase transfer speeds?

No i have not tried to measure with the adapter and router in the same room, but it just a few meters apart them. The signal is at 65-70db.
I have tried to change the transmit power, and i have tried TCP-Optimizer.
But it didn´t make any difference.
Also when i try to turn on the wireless security i get instant disconnection and i have to reset the router.
