I have read a lot about unstability of the V23 release. I.e. I have heard that the router dies after some time (1-2 weeks).

I want to install that on the router of my parents where I cannot be around for restarts and maintenance every day, so things have to run stable of course - any experiences regarding stability with V23 SP1?

    Thanks again.

It's obviously difficult for anyone to comment on this, because SP1 was only released a week ago :)

I've experienced no stability problems with SP1, but then my router's not been up for more than one day at a time because I keep playing around with the new options. I think I've finished tinkering now though, so I look forward to seeing how long the router stays up for...

Dude, it looks like you are exactly in the same situation like me... but I did big shit... lool. I upgraded my WRT54G 2.2 to latest final DD-WRT 23 SP1 in my apartment and its running fine and normal but I tried to upgrade the same equipment trought the internet that is at my parents house and the upgrade failed and the router tottaly crashed and I got to call a technician to go there becaue I'm too far away  . So, if you are going to upgrade, go to your parents house and DONT TRY to upgrade it trought the Internet.

I have v23 SP1 running on 5 routers so far and have not experienced any lockups. I do have the router reboot itself late at night every Sunday so any stale cache that may cause the router to fail over time theroetically would be cleared each time the router reboots itself.

I did have one incident where the rebooting procedure did not complete properly, which left the router non functional. A simple power cycle of the router brought it back into service. I was using v23 dated 12-15-05 though. I think it is too early to tell is this issue will continue or not, since SP1 is only a couple weeks old. All 5 routers were functional this past Monday morning so they all rebooted without issue.

    Hope this helps, good luck.

I never had any problems with v23 stability. I often had an uptime of more than a month. I have only had SP1 running for a few days but so far nothing indicates it will be less stable.

I have stability problems out the wazoo with it on my 1.1 wrt54g.

Ill reset the firmware it is running currently (thibor) reboot and flash SP1.

It takes about 3 minutes to come live, somtimes requiring a power cycle. (I do a reset defaults after this) When making changes, the router crashes after 3-5 minutes and takes another two to come live again. The older releases have not had this issue.
