    Hi Everyone,

I am setting up a VNC for my brother who lives in a shared house. He wants to be able to access his Apple Mac (OSX) from his palmtop using VNC. I have set this link up and it works fine, however, the BEFSR41 V3 router which shares the internet to his house is set up with DHCP. This means that every day his computer aquires a new IP address within the range to according to which computers in the house are switched on. This means that the VNC often doesn't know where to look and won't connect (unless by luck the correct IP is selected by DHCP and thus the port forwarding is correct)

How can I make the router reserve an IP address for his Apple Mac and keep it that way so that the port forwarding for VNC will always work? I need to do this whilst retaining DHCP for his housemates PCs.

    Thanks in advance,

    Problem solved

I've sorted it out - set a static IP on the mac, set port forwarding to that IP and manually entered the DNS servers on the mac as displayed in the router's status.
