TFTP flash... no results... wrong firmware?

I have two bricked WAP54G's, one is a V3.1, and the other is a V2. I've taken them both apart, have followed the instructions on the screwdriver reflashing tutorials, but only get as far as ftp'ing the firmwares over to the devices. After that, my pings stop, and I'm back to where I started.

Since there are so many out there who have had success with this method, I feel like there has to be something I'm doing wrong, especially considering I'm using two different models of the same access point. I don't know if anyone with any expertise is surfing these posts anymore, but any hep would be greatly appreciated!

Also, just a side note. I've used just about every firmware version I could get my hands on. On a few occasions (randomly), just after flashing, the pinging will sometimes start back up. I even got OpenWRT going on the V3.1 once, could telnet in and everything, but once I cycled the power, the AP was once again bricked.

You say after power OFF and ON again he did not kept the f/w in his flash memory, is that right?

Are the same problems with both v2 and v3.1 devices?

Be aware of short circuits or damaged pcb!!!
