    Hello folks,

I am working on an update to Hyperwrt. I finally got around to getting the build environment working in VMware (kubuntu), and started with adding some tweaks and fixes to the WRTSL54GS firmware. (particularly with the PPTPD VPN stuff).

So I am looking for some folks to do some testing, and hopefully a couple folks who can assist with development. So if you have the will, let me know and I can assist with your dev environment setup and running.

It's been a long time since I worked on this, but it feels good, and I want to give back to the community that has given me so much.

Hyperwrt has always been one of the most stable firmwares, and I intend to stick to that.

The first things to do are fix any bugs, either leftover or ones arisen out of changes due to external forces (ie ddns, nntp etc).

Another thing is I only have a limited amount of time, and have to keep my priorities to work, family and friends.

So if you have a SL and want to test fixes, I have the base for that done. I can put up the binaries and src someplace for folks to grab them from.

Some initial things to do: update netfilter, busybox and dnsmasq as a start.

Alright, have the VPN server (pptpd) tweaked and working with 128bit encryption along with adding DNS for the client in the webUI (previously one had to specify DNS on the client end). My Iphone is happier now.

I want to fix up ddns, but I really do not use it. So if there is anyone with a SL that can pass any ddns problems to me I would appreciate it.

    Next up, updating dnsmasq.

Any other suggestions to add to the list?

Great to here grcore, I suspected you might take it on. I'm around for anything you might need. I have a few different WRT54G/GS versions and I have limited access to an SL but not this weekend anyway.

First I am going to update and fixup fw for the SL model (since that is what I use for the most part). Then switch over to the G/GL/GS firmware. Goals for that model would include all the core additons to the SL, plus adding the VPN server.

Adding PoPToP to the G/GL/GS model may be a bit tricky as it might be close to the max firmware size, it will be close...

Again, stability is the main goal here. That has always been the direction of Hyperwrt, and I intend to maintain that legacy.
