I'm trying to compile the firmware with OpenVPN but I'm pretty noob at cross compiling so looks
    like it'll take a while.
I tried to rip the libraries off IPKGs but the kernel version in OpenWRT is different so I have to recompile...

did anyone here tried adding OpenVPN to Tomato?
any advices on compiling OpenVPN for MIPS?
since space is not really an issue yet because Tomato is small (2.7MB)
I think up to 3.5MB~3.7MB is okay
I can use statically linked OpenVPN with all needed libraries and modules so it will be a big file but I'll could run it from CIFS without dependency issues - is that possible???

That's great! I've toyed with the idea of going back to DD-WRT, b/c of VPN. I'd much rather use Tomato, though.
Maybe you could even give some pointers as to how to set it up. I'm fairly new to this stuff, but assuming I have a static IP, I should be able to access files on my home computer via my router, right?

So you got it to compile: that's great, but does it work on the WRT with Tomato?
FYI: I run OpenVPN behind my Tomato on a FreeBSD-box - works as it should (too), but I'm interested to get this to run on Tomato (just like i do with SNMPd and Kismet-drone).

I'm having issues with openssl library which apparently a little tricky to cross compile (at list with my lack of programming skill )
...and 1.07 has been released I'm changing to the new source base and continue trying  (I'll get there eventually)

I used VPN when I have DDWRT installed but that firmware just not as good as Tomato. I've been ask for this feature long tima ago. Now my dream may come true soon!

Couldn't wait to try it... :)
