Thank you! :) I guess they are not releasing the newer versions in English.
Do you know if there is another Tomato Mod that is capable of DualWan?

Nothing that works like the Chinese one. This one can work with two ADSL lines, which is something I want to try for load balancing. That part of it I have tried and it works. I think the author is very progressive and wish him well, this software looks very interesting.

1.23.0061 was an English version made by the author a long time ago.
1.23.0263EN was a version modified by mstombs who attempted to translate most of the GUI to English. Amongst us here on Linksysinfo, mstombs is probably the most knowledgeable about this software. There's also kenyloveg who uses the Chinese version as he is a Chinese speaker.
1.23.0286EN I believe was also a more recent GUI mod by mstombs.

The original English version is now very old. Back then, I don't think it was anywhere near stable. The most recent versions, according to some Chinese posters, are pretty much useable, but still all requests for a proper English version have fallen on deaf ears. The author unfortunately does not seem to believe in the spirit of open source software, and has not made the source code available. Although he freely takes from other mods, (you can see both Victek's and Teddy Bear's mods have been used) he will not share his own. He appears to have even tried to copy protect parts of it.

Many, though not all, versions of this software can be found here:

Do you know if this will work with one Cable connection and one Wireless connection?

I believe it can, it is specifically mentioned somewhere that one of the WAN connections could be a wireless connection to someone else's router. In China, they are very severely restricted, and they try by all means to get more bandwidth!

Much appreciated...I almost gave up searching for it :)

OK, I updated the firmware to Tomato DualWan.
    It connected to:
    Cable Internet Gateway (WAN1)
    WiFi Internet Gateway (WAN2)

I see both connections get IP address and connect successfully.
I also disabled one connection then the other just to test if they both work, they do work.
Now when I run bittorrent with both (WAN1) and (WAN2) connected and run multiple downloads and many connections I don't see it using the bandwidth of both connections. It just uses one of the connections (WAN2).
What am I missing here?

How can one specify what interface is WAN2? I could not find a way...thanks!!!

Well, the latest build is 1.23.0388 (author prefer to use 1.23, not 1.25) which can utilize 8MB flash. Actually just USB function...
Yes, you can use WDS as WAN2. Most devices will automatically tagging WAN2 as the port close to WAN1 (AKA WAN) after you flashed it to dualwan MOD.
Currently I'm running thor2002ro's MOD, and most reason is SgtPepperKSU's VPN MOD. I'd like to see zd release dualwan source to the community, cuz I know it would amaze us after that...

For some reason I still cannot use both connections

No, that's traffic assignment. I was looking for a physical port assignment, or better, virtual interface assignment.

Ideal example: WAN2 is a virtual PPTP interface (using WAN1 as conduit), that would be awesome.

But does it work for you at all? Because I have the 2 Internet gateways connected but all the traffic only goes through WAN2.

So, could anyone help me load balance the 2 connections?
Am I missing something in the settings?
Do I need to set it up in "Assign Out" settings or use the "QOS" to make it load balance between 2 connections? I tried everything and it still just uses WAN2.

Also I see the guys here are using some kind of script with this version of tomato.

Do I need to add a script or something?
I found the scripts form the screenshot here:

    Help  Thanks.

    Is that 1.23.0388 official?
I don't see the release on

That's been the problem. I am still confused, after reading through the google translated chinese forum hundreds of times, on how to use these scripts - or if they are now even necessary. I read many comments from Chinese users, but still am not very sure if people really are having success with the mod. The general technical level of comments on those forums is quite low, and the feedback isn't much help. The translation doesn't help much either !!

:frown: There is also the DD-WRT Dual WAN script, maybe that one will work?

These scripts are no longer need to paste in, they've already been implemented in webgui.
Let me know what is your question, I'll try to help you based on my understanding.

    Thanks kenyloveg

I can't speak for anyone else, but it is my belief that many of us would like to try this software to increase our total bandwidth. Because although we have relatively low speed internet connections, we can easily get more than one line, either with the same ISP or two different ones (for redundancy).

In my case, I would be using two ADSL PPPOE connections at 5Mbps or 8 Mbps.

Some while ago when I tried the software to verify that two PPPOE ADSL connections worked, they did so. But I am not good at deciphering the instructions and never made sense out of the scripts to actually do load balancing etc. between the two lines. I could not afford the downtime necessary to get this working.

It would be very helpful if you could explain the steps necessary to do so with the latest version (version no. ????). Are any scripts at all now necessary? How reliable is the firmware? Is it stable enough for 24 hour use with many clients? How good is it at load balancing the clients and applications? What are the disadvantages? Are any serious bugs remaining? (I realize you may not have the answers to all of these questions).

zd has made a great bit of software. We would love to use it. That is itself a great compliment to his skills.

    Thanks for the help!

I think you are wrong with this English version.
I tried every possible feature, then I decided to give the 2 scripts a try, and what do you know. They worked!

    I attached the 2 scripts.
Here is how to get it up and running.

    1. Paste the contents of "Load Balance.txt" in "Administration / Scripts / Route Start"
    2. Paste the contents of "Common Stop.txt" in "Administration / Scripts / Route Stop"
    3. Save and restart the router.

Run a bunch of downloads at the same time (best result with bittorrent and a fast private tracker), then go to "Bandwidth / Real Time" and check if both "vlan1 and eth1" are active at the same time.

As a router OS, I don't think It will make different if it's only in Chinese GUI.
Here is the Dualwan MOD brief steps:

Provide load balance, smart router and customize MODE

    1. Load Balance===>Recommend WAN1 and WAN2 are connecting to same ISP. As for the ratio (default is 1:1), the bigger number has the higher priority. For example, if WAN1 is 4Mbps,WAN2 is 2Mbps, then the ratio should be 2:1

    2. Smart Router===>Automatically route the destination IP to corresponding WAN port, recommend to use this when WAN1 and WAN2 are different ISP. For example, your WAN1 is AT&T, while WAN2 is T-Mobile, when you surfing a website hosted by T-Mobile, the router will connect to the website through WAN2, but not WAN1 (in case it's been testified slow access to T-Mobile through AT&T account!). Additionally, you have to collect and paste ISP router table (network/subnet) in.
Router table (for WAN2) should be like
    3. Customized ===> The best place to screw up if you know nothing about how it works.

For these questions you raised up, I can't guarantee it's extremely stable. But one of my friend is running older build without any problem. BTW, the latest build now is 1.23.0401.

kenyloveg - Thank you very much for that expanation.

As it seems to be somewhat less involved now I will attempt to set it up when the network seems quiet one night. For me, it has to be very stable, as hundreds of users are online, and if it doesn't work well, they check out of the apartments! So, at least I can give it a good test!

I need the English translated GUI not just for my own use but for the staff of the various apartment blocks. But I think some of the other guys are trying to get something going.

Latest 2 releases mirrored here: 0409 was compiled only yesterday - it's very new.

It's a home server on ADSL, so please be patient if it's slow.
