We just moved into the brand new house with 5 ethernet jack in 5 rooms and a centralized patch panel. I put the cable modem and ASUS N-12 with tomato in the patch panel. It runs perfect. Wireless working great. However, after I plugged in all the ethernet cables to the router and test wired internet in other rooms, only one of the 5 rooms can get internet, in 4 other rooms, the jack on the wall has no signal at all, the ethernet port on the computer is not even blinking.

Don't know if this matters, the only room with wired internet is the master bedroom. Anyone has any ideas of the possible cause of the problem ? I tried to change how the ethernet cable connect to the router, but still only the MB get wired internet. I am not sure if this has anything to do with tomato, although I doubt it. Any thoughts would be welcome. Thanks !

I agree to check the wiring, google up a wiring reference if you need, such as this from cable vendor Cables Plus USA site.

Also the Asus RT-N16 has Gb ports which require CAT5e or CAT6 cabling. You can check what the rating of the cabling in your infrastructure is, the cables should be labelled with the rating. I would think even if the cable isn't rated high enough, you'd get a link, but it's something you should check. Should be at least CAT5 I would think but I have seen oddball cabling like CAT3 in the past.
